Resilience: the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity; the capacity
to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.
Imagine you make a hole in the sand. Within seconds you cannot distinguish it’s form. Imagine a
balloon. Squeeze it. Within seconds it will regain its round form.
Take a human heart. Smash it. Within seconds you will not be able to know whether it will
recover its form again. Within years you will still see the scratches on the surfaces. Some hearts
harden, some remain flat for the rest of the time they need to pump.
After one week, life gets back to normal in Brussels. We watch the opening of the news with
highlights over the victims, the search, the repairs going on. People go on spring holidays,
people return from exotic holidays. The hole in the heart of the city is slowly silently filling up with
Life itself.
How blessed we are to be able to fill our hearts with the love of today and tomorrow and the day
after tomorrow. To be able to sit down at the breakfast table and sip our coffee, make plans, big
plans for the wonderful day waiting ahead of us.
We dread what happened, and we think about those fighting for their lives in critical stages and
we are so grateful for having regained our comfort zones. Life as we know it. Almost the same as
one week ago.
Almost…
We will never be the same again as we grew out of it.
We are stronger, wiser, more loving, more attentive.
We became intentional. We see the people around us, we care about them, we ask ourselves
how we could be of help. We name, we acknowledge and we smile to each other. Fear is around
the corner. We know it, she knows it – the end of the scary story.
Light and love open new doors, suggest new perspectives and build intentional attitude.
Resilience is a blessing.
Let your light and love shine today stronger than yesterday!
We are blessed with LIFE!
